Apricots, cherries and figs with mirror

Apricots, cherries and figs with mirror - Still Life
Figs, one of the classic fruits of still life compositions.  The fig has traditional biblical associations, as the fig tree is the third tree to be mentioned in the Bible. The fig also has strong connotations with modesty and sexuality. Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves. The visual suggestiveness of the exposed, split fruit allude to intimate, sensual imagery.

The split cherries portray vulnerability and fragility as they roll from their safe existence to the tables edge. While the soft textures of the apricots  nestle and radiate and contrast in the luxury of dark velvet.
