I make it true
I make it true features a collection of tools for the craftsman to expertly ply his carpentry skills and to finely complete his task true and by hand.
I rescued most of the tools from friend who had them earmarked for an early trip to the local tip.
The heavy brass plumb weight was spotted lying in an ashtray at a ‘junk shop’, I had no idea at the time why I wanted it other than I did.
The oil can was part of a last minute pick up when purchasing a mirror from an Edinburgh antique store, it caught my eye as it poked out of the “everything a pound box”.
The set square was part of my relatives apprenticeship toolkit he used in 1953.
I think it is a testimony to the toolmakers and the quality you could expect at one time, the steel is hardened and retains an edge and the wood of the handles is hard, not many tools today survive for very long.
