Philip Woolway - fine art photography Combining his training with the Royal Photographic Society with his passion for capturing challenging and unusual imagery, Philip secured a position as the music photographer for Rant magazine where he was tasked to capture the exciting atmosphere of live music. The opportunity enabled him to photograph many leading acts and led to the publication of his images nationally and internationally, with Korg, USA selecting Philip's work as the sole imagery for a world-wide advertising promotion. A photographic commission to document the making of a video at The New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth, made Philip aware of the plight of this once magnificent Victorian theatre that despite a 150 year old history in a prominent location its existence was relatively unknown to so many people. The opportunity to record this unique theatre in a new light and to help the theatre with much needed funds impelled Philip to capture and exhibit its unseen beauty. During 2009 Philip embarked on a project to photographically document the traditional “junk shop” with their myriad of objects chaotically organised. Originally conceived as a short term work, the project “Where can you buy?” still continues as a work in progress. Philip's latest project is entitled, “Remnants of Defence”, which through privileged access is providing Philip with the opportunity to capture some of the mystery behind the Victorian coastal defence forts constructed under order of Lord Palmerston to defend ours shores from the perceived French invasion by Napoleon III.
